Abstract

Undoubtedly, firms must know that human capital represents a key source of sustained competitive advantage. The goal of this paper is to analyse how strategic human resource management can create a sustainable competitive advantage. First, we analyse the importance of strategic human resource management as a competitive determining element in the actual economic environment. Second, we propose a conceptual framework for human resources analysis, from the point of view of resources and capacities theory of the firm. Finally, we present the main conclusions and implications for human resource management derived from this work.
