The analysis of energy-related CO 2 emissions from 1950 to 2000

Abstract

This study analyses energy-related CO2 emissions in the world from 1950 to 2000 based on the estimated CO2 emissions statistics. The results suggest that decrease in the index of CO2/WFFC (WFFC – World Fossil Fuel Consumption), CO2 emission intensity and per capita CO2 emissions are necessary but not sufficient conditions for realising the human target of the improvement of environmental quality. Only if the decrease reaches a certain level, will they become sufficient conditions. The Rio environment target and the Kyoto Protocol are correct measures but only partial steps as the target for total CO2 emissions should be much lower.
