Abstract

One of the types of entrepreneurships that has recently been considered by researchers is social entrepreneurship, which is aimed at solving social problems in society and carrying out social and humanitarian missions in business activities. Sport is among the most important areas of entrepreneurship. In this study, we are looking to identify the major factors contributing to social entrepreneurship in sport. More specifically, the systematic approach of Strauss and Corbin has been used to develop a model of social entrepreneurship in Iranian sport sector. In doing so, we have conducted 10 in-depth interviews with sport experts. Accordingly, three major factors have been identified: individual, contextual, and institutional factors. Individual factors have three sub-factors, namely social, economic, and political factors. Institutional factors have two sub-factors of governmental and cultural support, and finally, contextual factors have three sub-factors, including financial, human, and cultural capital.
