Abstract

The Cash for Clunkers program is the popular nickname for the Car Allowance Rebates Program created in the Consumer Assistance to Recycle and Save Act of 2009 (CARS). A review of the applied literature on CRM, economic policy, and the newly enacted government program providing financial incentives, national identity programs and an empirical analysis, via a focused, stratified approach to measure personal reactions to government goals and rebates conducted in companies representative of the service industries located in the metropolitan section of Akron, OH. It was found that potential customers are more likely to purchase a vehicle under the CARS program if they had a political view that found it appropriate for government to offer such financial incentives to increase fuel efficiency; however, this was not true for the other reasons, such as to stimulating the automobile industry, helping the environment, and providing for the needy.
