Implications of complexity in strategic management

Abstract

Within the framework of complexity science, there has been a change in organisational science and therefore lately a change in strategic management. Organisations are now considered to be complex adaptive systems, so traditional leadership based on formal authority and prediction capacity is not well-suited in unstable, changeable and uncertain organisations, characterised by communication, globalisation and emergence. In this paper, we analyse the implications of complexity in strategic management and its evolution over time.
