Abstract

The research aims to generate an optimised model to find out the impact of advanced manufacturing technologies on performance parameters in the small and medium enterprises of northern India. With the help of a cross-sectional survey, data collected from the manufacturing small and medium enterprises of the northern region of India was analysed using structural equation modelling. Advanced manufacturing technologies, namely, enterprise resource planning, automated material handling and storage, computer aided manufacturing and computer aided design have been considered in this research. Their impact has been analysed on performance factors, namely, production, quality, flexibility and health and safety. The optimised model generated using structural equation modelling can be helpful in guiding the industrialists and management who are planning for or implementing the advanced manufacturing technologies. The results and conclusions of the current work give rise to expressive implications for industrialists, entrepreneurs, academia, researchers and practitioners as well.
