Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to study the requirements of Six Sigma along with its applications in an Indian manufacturing industry. This paper is based on a case study of an electronics manufacturing industry (EMI). SAP-LAP analysis is used to summarise key information related to a manufacturing industry. A detailed DMAIC-based project is studied and reported to understand deployment methodology of Six Sigma in the selected organisation. Six Sigma is one of the most desired methodologies to meet global competition. The organisation under study adopted Six Sigma DMAIC model and achieved excellent financial gains, by handling project effectively. One such project is reported in this paper. The burning desire to adopt, understand and implement Six Sigma makes a success story. The organisation under study is on its way to establish a new benchmark for Indian manufacturing industries. Success of Six Sigma depends on effective handling of projects. The study conducted and analysed in SAP-LAP framework to report many issues of interest to researchers and managers. The paper is also of great value for those who are interested to learn DMAIC-applications.
