Abstract

There is enormous scope and market potential for the growth of training industry. With the continuous influx of work force year after year, there is an inadvertent need to endow the workforce with the requisite knowledge, skills and attitude necessitated for the job. This research work is carried out to understand the concept of transfer of training and its association with organisational commitment. The study employs learning transfer system inventory (LTSI) scale and organisational commitment scale (OCS) to analyse the training and development practices in Indian manufacturing and service industry. For the various scales and subscales employed in the study reliability analysis was performed and analysed. Confirmatory factor analysis was carried out to measure the extent to which the records meet the proposed model. The outcomes were tabulated and inferences show a good model fit. Further the future prospects for research in this direction are contemplated.
