Abstract

Self-knowledge is a very prominent theme as it is one of the strong drivers for the skills acquisition and personal and professional evolution. In this paper, self-knowledge and its relationship with job satisfaction were investigated in a group of 16 top and middle managers of a management consulting company by applying a 3,600 methodology through application of questionnaires. To quantify self-knowledge, it was measured using the Euclidean distance between the answers of the questionnaires, thus measuring the dissimilarity answers between the collaborator and the respective sphere. The results indicate an association between self-knowledge and job satisfaction, and factors such as tolerance towards others, efficiency and ability to escalate critical problems to leadership are factors that can explain this relationship. This study opens possibilities for further studies and brings into practice evidence that organisations are responsible for providing enabling environments and tools in order to promote a culture of self-knowledge.
