Abstract

While entrepreneurship education has been started and popularised in many institutions of tertiary education in India little is known at this point about the effect of these courses. This study seeks to address this research gap. It aims to: 1) gauge the significance of entrepreneurship among post graduate business students who would be India's next generation of entrepreneurs; 2) understand how entrepreneurship is integrated in the curricula of business schools in India; 3) examine the link between entrepreneurial education and students' entrepreneurial intentions and characteristics. The opinions of 190 postgraduate business students, 14 former students and directors/deans of eight business schools have been taken. This study indicates that entrepreneurship education powerfully motivates young people to start their own venture. It is now difficult for young people to find the traditional 'job-for-life' careers. Enterprise education is looked upon as a vital prerequisite to prepare the youth for the dynamics of the job market.
