Mujeres Directivas En Las Mipymes De Mexico

Abstract

This paper investigates the relation between experience and strategies that Mexican female executives follow in small business (MIPYMES) in order to advance their professional career to a top management position. Educational level, formal education, marital status, and age are analyzed. Interviews of top female executives were used for this study. The results obtained in this paper suggest that Mexican female executives experienced a positive job relationship. Education is important to female executives’ career development while machismo and other female attitudes are among the most important barrier to promotion. This study is limited to a specific geographic location, and a small sample. Thus, the results may be interpreted with these limitations in mind.
