Abstract

The majority of experts, most notably on an instinctive basis, consider that limited access to crediting is the main factor, which restrains formation of the effective, competitive, environmentally friendly and socially-oriented stable agricultural sector in Ukraine. Accordingly the purpose of the research is to check and find arguments in favour of the statement that bank crediting plays a significant role in development of agricultural sector in Ukraine using statistic methods. Attempts to find such arguments when analysing relations between integral indicators of relative development of the banking sector and agriculture gave no positive outcome. The research based on certain non-integral indicators, which characterize different aspects of bank crediting and development of agriculture, enabled to find only certain weak arguments in favour of the above statement. In particular, the regression analysis demonstrated that increase in bank credits by UAH1.00 was accompanied by increase in volume of agricultural production almost by UAH5,00 at an average, that is significantly higher than in other sectors (for example, distributive trade).
