Abstract

El estudio empírico de la evolución de la distribución personal de la renta en España en las dos últimas décadas puede acometerse utilizando diferentes fuentes de datos y una pluralidad de enfoques sobre el concepto de renta considerado, de forma que la valoración final de los cambios experimentados por los niveles de renta, desigualdad o pobreza queda muchas veces condicionada a estos elementos de partida. En consecuencia, la disparidad de resultados de los estudios no ayuda a clarificar el efecto de las políticas sociales y otros factores que afectan a la distribución. En el presente trabajo se analizan y comparan, mediante técnicas de inferencia bootstrap, las distribuciones personales de renta construidas a partir de las Encuestas Continuas de Presupuestos Familiares, base 1985 y 1997, y el Panel de Hogares de la Unión Europea. Se utilizan metodologías idénticas sobre los microdatos disponibles, con el fin de verificar si ambas fuentes indican tendencias distributivas coincidentes o no, ante una variedad de escalas de equivalencia.
