Abstract

The paper contains a micro econometric analysis of consumption of district heating and electricity for a cross section of Danish households from the Danish Expenditure Survey 1994-1996. The analysis shows, among other things, that the consumption of both district heating and electricity varies considerably with the size of the dwelling, the age of the adult household members, the family composition, and the total household budget. Therefore, political initiatives to influence the energy markets are likely to have rather differing effects across the population. This information can only be obtained from micro data.
