Abstract

Det hænder jo tit, at ens børn bliver mere berømte end en selv, og sådan gik det for Ellen Andersen. Hun blev i offentligheden først og fremmest kendt som modellen ADAM’s moder. Den økonomiske model, som hun konstruerede i årene fra 1968 til begyndelsen af 1970’erne, og som blev forsvaret som disputats i 1975, har i flere årtier været et centrale værktøj ved tilrettelæggelsen af den danske økonomiske politik. Versionen fra 1975 udviklede Ellen Andersen stort set alene og i en tid med få data og meget begrænset regnekraft. ADAM i dag er som storegamle bygninger præget af tilbygninger, nedrivninger, moderniseringer og justeringer. Men meget af det grundlæggende fundament kan føres tilbage til Ellens ideer og arbejde i begyndelsen af 1970’erne. Så det er fuldt berettiget, at hun betegnes som ADAM’s mor. Ved Ellens død var der et kontor i Danmarks Statistik med 1 kontorchef, 2 chefkonsulenter, 2 specialkonsulenter og 3 fuldmægtige til at udbygge og vedligeholde ADAM. Og der er brugere rundt omkring, specielt i Finansministeriet, der siden midt i 1970’erne permanent har arbejdet med modellen. Det er i sandhed en stor bygning, hun lagde grundstenen til i første halvdel af 1970’erne
