Decisões de Localização e Crescimento Económico na Era Digital

Abstract

O progressivo avolumar de transacções em bens-conhecimento ou bens digitais caracteriza uma nova realidade, que tem funcionado como mola impulsionadora do crescimento sustentado no mundo desenvolvido e que reaviva a importância de alguns elementos da organização económica da sociedade. Um desses elementos respeita à geografia económica. Este artigo desenvolve um modelo de crescimento endógeno básico, do tipo AK, ao qual se adiciona um mecanismo endógeno de distribuição da actividade produtiva por dois pontos geográficos. Considerando economias de escala e custos de transporte constrói-se uma estrutura teórica de referência para discussão do impacto das novas tecnologias e dos bens digitais sobre a localização de actividades e sobre o processo de crescimento de longo prazo.
