Anziani e societ?

Abstract

L?articolo parte dalla confutazione di una diffusa convinzione relativa al peggioramento della condizione degli anziani nella societ? attuale rispetto al passato. L?analisi storica mostra infatti che la condizione degli anziani ? variata nel corso della storia ed ? stata migliore nel periodo di sviluppo del welfare state con la diffusione delle pensioni e il miglioramento della situazione socio-economica. Ma ora siamo in una fase di declino. I rapporti tra anziani e societ? sono stati fortemente condizionati dai cambiamenti nella famiglia. Trasformazioni sociali e culturali hanno ridotto il numero delle famiglie multi generazionali e reso i famigliari meno disponibili al lavoro di cura. Il risultato ? un aumento delle famiglie di soli anziani e di anziani soli. Questo spiega in Italia l?importazione di forza lavoro dall?estero per il lavoro di cura. L?articolo si conclude con un riferimento alle questioni attuali riguardanti soprattutto gli anziani nella "quarta et?", secondo la definizione di Laslett, quando nella societ? attuale ai problemi della dipendenza si sommano quelli della solitudine.
