Abstract

Gruppi di reti di franchising e indicatori economici caratteristici - The research presents a cluster analysis of networks of franchising with data taken from the business register of the main Italian association in the sector. The basic processed information is the count of networks, national outlets, outlets abroad, employees and the level in revenues earned in various economic sectors where the franchising is active. The previous variables, after an examination by Explorative Data Analysis, were used for the construction of some characteristic ratios relating to aspects of dimensions, efficiency and strategy of the franchisors and franchisees. The ratios, after a screening for detection of uni-multivariate outliers, became the new variables for the cluster analysis, iterated with a different methodology in order to guarantee the stability of the results. The analysis revealed four types of networks, with specific patterns of connection that, in general but a few cases, are due to a good degree of symmetry and balance between the dynamics of franchisors and franchisees.
