Il finanziamento delle piccole e medie imprese e la crisi finanziaria: un quadro di riferimento

Abstract

Gli studi sulla creazione di posti di lavoro confermano, in generale, l’importanza del comparto delle piccole e medie imprese (PMI) quale motore in grado di guidare l’economia fuori dalla recessione. Tuttavia, tale ruolo appare difficile da svolgere quando le PMI non possono accedere ai finanziamenti esterni. L’obiettivo di questo articolo è esaminare i nuovi modelli che hanno contribuito a spiegare le modalità con cui le PMI accedono al credito e come tali modalità (in termini di garanzie richieste, ecc.) possono cambiare nel corso di una crisi finanziaria. Inoltre, tali modelli verranno utilizzati per esaminare due importanti questioni correlate al finanziamento alle PMI nel corso dell’attuale crisi economica: il comportamento delle banche straniere, in particolare nelle economie in via di sviluppo, e l’efficacia dei programmi di garanzie attuati dal governo.
