Hoe duur is Lotto?

Abstract

In dit artikel gaan we na in hoeverre de vraag op de Belgische Lottomarkt zich laat beschrijven door de effectieve prijs van een rooster: het gedeelte van de nominale prijs dat een speler statistisch gezien verliest bij een bepaalde trekking. De relatieve aantrekkelijkheid van een welbepaalde trekking kan hierdoor behoorlijk accuraat voorspeld worden. Schattingen van de prijselasticiteit wijzen uit dat de marktvraag op korte termijn prijsongevoelig is. Mogelijk kan de Nationale Loterij haar omzet dus verhogen door een ingreep in de spelstructuur.
