Abstract

O presente artigo traz reflexões acerca das teorias econômicas sobre o início da industrialização no Brasil e sua relação com o desenvolvimento do turismo. Trazendo à discussão o período anterior a 1930 e as contribuições da expansão do café para uma mudança na conjuntura das viagens nacionais e o início de uma consolidação de uma estrutura de serviços voltados ao turismo, os fatos históricos também nos remetem às mudanças nas relações de trabalho decorrentes da industrialização e ao início de uma política nacional de turismo no Brasil industrial no período pós-1930. Conclui-se que o período nacional-desenvolvimentista varguista apresenta importantes mudanças na popularização do turismo no país.
