Abstract

O turismo alargou as suas fronteiras e diversificou-se. É hoje uma atividade que percorre geografias amplas e diversificadas, diferentes ambientes climáticos e geomorfológicos, a terra e o mar, a cidade e o espaço rural. Com esse alargamento, colocam-se agora outras questões, equacionam-se novos problemas e problematiza-se o papel que esse turismo terá no desenvolvimento local. Para além disso, questiona-se a experiência turística em si. Neste novo mundo, no qual a atração pelo exotismo tropical é um facto, nem sempre a viagem turística é uma experiência ampla e livre. Em muitos casos, sobretudo no consumo desse imaginário de águas e climas quentes, a vivência turística está confinada a empreendimentos idílicos rodeados por muros, com escasso contacto com o exterior. Discutir-se-á esta experiência, seguindo uma nota de viagem do escritor António Tabucchi.
