Gestión Del Turismo Desde La Perspectiva Del Bilingüismo Y La Multiculturalidad: Caso Ciudad Juárez

Abstract

La Organización Mundial del Turismo, (agencia perteneciente a la ONU) refiere que, “el turismo comprende las actividades que realizan las personas durante sus viajes y estancias en lugares distintos a su entorno habitual, por un periodo de tiempo consecutivo inferior a un año, con fines de ocio, por negocios y otros” (OMT, 2006) En base a este concepto y al fenómeno de la globalización en una zona donde prevalece el turismo internacional, surge las siguientes preguntas: ¿Cuáles son las áreas que las empresas y prestadores de servicios turísticos deben enfatizar para ofrecer un servicio eficiente a sus clientes?, ¿Qué papel juegan el bilingüismo y la multiculturalidad en la prestación de estos servicios?. Debido a que dichos términos son medulares en esta investigación, se define como bilingüe de acuerdo a lo que Thiery propone: “los verdaderos bilingües no tienen acento en ninguno de los dos idiomas y son igualmente fluidos en las cuatro habilidades (lectura, escritura, audición y habla) en las dos lenguas (Grosjean, 1982: 232)”. Por otra parte, vivir en el multiculturalismo se precisa como la noción de la “cultura que uno enfrenta” y asume transacciones entre uno mismo y el otro en el contexto del “aquí y ahora” (Shigenori, 2006: 55).
