Redes De Apoyo Al Turismo Comunitario En Costa Rica

Abstract

En décadas recientes, políticas públicas y agencias de cooperación han promovido el Turismo Rural Comunitario (TRC), como una alternativa viable para el desarrollo local. Hay faltante de estudios sobre experiencias exitosas de turismo rural, sobre todo desde los intereses de miembros de comunidades rurales de países en desarrollo. La evidencia empírica indica que la mayoría de las experiencias de turismo rural están en control de personas ajenas a las comunidades rurales, lo cual conlleva a que la mayoría de los beneficios se filtren hacia el exterior de la comunidad. Esta investigación examina el TRC en Costa Rica, el cual ha sido desarrollado mediante Organizaciones de Apoyo a las Bases (OABs), financiadas principalmente por donantes internacionales, y a su vez apoyadas por instituciones estatales. El estudio se limita a los enlaces directos de dos OABs, ACTUAR y COOPRENA, y seis Organizaciones de Base Comunitaria (OBCs) relacionadas con las mismas. Los resultados sugieren que las OABs y las OBCs que se han mantenido activas son aquellas que tienen contacto con diferentes tipos de organizaciones, con las cuales intercambian información y recursos materiales, a la vez que llevan a cabo labores de formalización, mercadeo y política.
