Abstract

El turismo sustentable puede jugar un rol muy importante en el desarrollo de la comunidad, especialmente en áreas en las que abundan los recursos naturales y culturales, aún faltando recursos financieros que permitan el crecimiento económico en otras vías. Sin embargo, cualquier esfuerzo promocional y de desarrollo puede tener consecuencias en las dimensiones clásicas del desarrollo sustentable: ecológicas, económicas y socio-culturales positivas y negativas, efectos que pueden estar intrincadamente unidos, por lo que pueden darse sinergias benéficas o relaciones inversas entre estas tres áreas de impacto.
