Abstract

Xantolo es una de las importantes festividades milenarias heredadas por los ancestros en la región Huasteca Potosina que identifica a cada uno de sus habitantes y quienes siguen efectuando el ritual de la danza de los huehues, siendo el municipio de San Vicente Tancuayalab uno de los principales exponentes de la festividad que mantiene a esta danza como un elemento del patrimonio cultural intangible en la región huasteca potosina. En los últimos años se han identificado algunos cambios en su representación que podría acelerarse y perder autenticidad de manera acelerada respecto a las características originales del ritual. El objetivo de esta contribución es el exponer e interpretar la esencia original de la danza a través de una investigación documental enfocada principalmente en los orígenes de la danza, sus elementos y su evolución hasta el presente tiempo.
