Agricultura industrial en la Huasteca Potosina: la caña de azúcar

Abstract

En el presente trabajo abordamos un estudio descriptivo sobre la industria azucarera en la región huasteca de San Luis Potosí. Partimos de la importancia que ha tenido desde hace siglos la producción de azúcar para la humanidad. Después haremos un repaso de la cuestión agraria en la huasteca potosina hasta la postrevolución que nos servirá de marco para abordar el estudio de la industria azucarera. Sobre la industria azucarera abordaremos las áreas de cultivo en la zona huasteca, el ciclo de producción, las variedades utilizadas y los problemas a los que se enfrentan los productores.
