Las Remesas De Los Trabajadores Y La Variabilidad De La Producción Agragada Real En Algunos Países Latinoamericanos

Abstract

Existe una proporción significativa de personas nacionales de los países en vías de desarrollo trabajando en el extranjero. Algunos de esos trabajadores transfieren fondos a los familiares y a otros residentes de sus países de origen. Esos recursos tienen el efecto de financiar actividades de consumo y producción por lo que impactan positivamente la trayectoria de crecimiento de largo plazo de las economías beneficiadas por ese tipo de ingreso. No obstante, esos flujos de fondos pueden afectar la variabilidad de la producción agregada real en el corto plazo. Por ejemplo, si las razones para enviar las remesas fueran de carácter altruista, la transferencia de las mismas debe aumentar cuando los países receptores estén experimentando contracciones económicas y reducirse en períodos de expansión.
