Abstract

Guerras Justas, de Cicerón a Irak es uno de esos libros que por su profundidad atraviesan la prueba del tiempo. Si bien es un trabajo, más o menos reciente, su originalidad nos lleva a cuestionar dos presupuestos básicos sobre el momento de hacer la guerra (ius ad bellum) y la forma de conducir la contienda (ius in bellum). Desde la antigua Roma hasta el terrorismo moderno, Alex Bellamy (el autor de este fascinante libro) estructura su pensamiento en dos partes. La primera dedicada a un rastreo histórico de la guerra desde Hobbes hasta la modernidad, la segunda se encuentra referida a temas contemporáneos como las dos guerras mundiales y la invasión estadounidense a Irak.
