ANÁLISIS EXPLORATÓRIO DEL MERCADO Y LA COMERCIALIZACIÓN DE CHILE PIQUÍN (C. annuum, var. aviculare Dierb.) EN MÉXICO

Abstract

El mayor volumen de chile piquín que se comercializa en México proviene de colectas de plantas silvestres, existen pocas evidencias de plantaciones comerciales. Los objetivos son conocer los requerimientos de producción, la rentabilidad e investigar posibles mercados meta. Como instrumento de investigación se utilizó la revisión bibliográfica, consulta de medios escritos y electrónicos de instituciones públicas y privadas y académicas. En tres escenarios de producción (baja, media y alta tecnología) hay una relación beneficio/costo superior a 1 por lo que el cultivo es factible económicamente, como nueva opción productiva en México. Es viable el establecimiento de producciones a gran escala de chile piquín en el territorio mexicano y este puede ser una fuente importante de ingresos para las familias de bajos recursos de las regiones semideserticas. Existe un nicho de mercado internacional en Estados Unidos basándose en las altas tasas medias de crecimiento del flujo comercial que presenta este mercado. India es el principal competidor de México en EUA, y en el mercado nacional es China.
