El hacinamiento carcelario en Ecuador

Abstract

Esta investigación se desarrolló con la finalidad de identificar las causas del hacinamiento carcelario en Ecuador. Las cifras obtenidas de los organismos gubernamentales del estado permiten establecer que en los últimos diez años la población carcelaria se ha incrementado significativamente, alcanzando altos niveles de hacinamiento. Esta situación deriva en condiciones de vida inapropiadas de las Personas Privadas de la Libertad poniéndolas en constante riesgo por los niveles de criminalidad dentro de los centros de rehabilitación social. De ahí que se propongan alternativas de solución al problema.
