Abstract

Durante el periodo que Antonio María Claret y Clára fue arzobispo del Departamento Oriental de Cuba (16.2.1853-12.4.1857) se vivieron años de renovación para la Iglesia Católica y la moralidad oriental. El Prelado reconoció las problemáticas sociales que afectaban a la Isla y encauza su labor episcopal no solo a crítica los males sociales, sino que pone en práctica proyectos sociales encaminados a que la iglesia católica retomase sus funciones como base del buen orden y al saneamiento moral.
