Transformação da paisagem: agronegócio e desmatamento no Araguaia Mato-Grossense

Abstract

O presente trabalho apresenta uma análise crítica sobre a relação existente entre agronegócio e desmatamento na região Araguaia, localizada no Nordeste do Estado de Mato Grosso, dentro da Amazônia Legal brasileira, que é caracterizada por ser uma área de transição entre os biomas Cerrado e Amazônia. A expansão da fronteira agropecuária na região só avança por meio do desmatamento. A ocupação desordenada do espaço acelera a devastação ambiental que ocorre somente objetivando a acumulação financeira. A mata primária é derrubada em nome da produtividade e do lucro, fazendo com que a paisagem seja completamente transformada e homogeneizada. A biodiversidade diminui na mesma velocidade que a produção latifundiária extensiva adentra a região. E, dessa forma, diminui as alternativas de vivência homogeneizando também o pensamento.
