A reterritorialização dos imigrantes árabes na fronteira de Pedro Juan Caballero (PY) e Ponta Porã (BR): entre o oriente e o ocidente

Abstract

O artigo analisa a reterritorialização dos imigrantes árabes na fronteira de Pedro Juan Caballero (Paraguai) e Ponta Porã (Brasil). As concepções de “mundo†do Ocidente e do Oriente fazem parte, embora de forma desigual, da reelaboração identitária destes imigrantes árabes nesta área de fronteira. Segundo Hall (2009) toda identidade é hibrida, e para Sayad (1998) todo migrante é ao mesmo tempo e/imigrante; tem sua história, sua cultura e seus costumes dispostos no novo lugar. Já para Haesbaert (2004), essa mescla participa do processo de reterritorialização do imigrante que, no caso dos árabes na fronteira de Pedro Juan Caballero e Ponta Porã, manifesta-se nas relações religiosas, nos relacioidntos e no trabalho do comércio. O imigrante traz em si, em seu corpo e sua mente, a cultura Oriental, mas no processo de reterritorialização vai sendo incorporada como parte do Ocidente.
