Identificación y evaluación de impactos ambientales producidos por el desarrollo turístico en la cayería norte de la provincia de Camagüey

Abstract

La región turística norte posee un conjunto importante de atractivos turísticos tanto naturales como históricos-culturales, que la convierten en un potencial importante para Cuba. El Estado cubano sustenta la decisión de completar la infraestructura necesaria para el desarrollo turístico de los cayos del norte a partir de un modelo de ordenamiento territorial donde se interrelacionen las tres dimensiones fundamentales del desarrollo sostenible. Los objetivos generales del presente artículo son identificar, definir y evaluar los impactos o afectaciones que se pueden generar sobre los recursos naturales y el medio ambiente (físico, biótico, social y perceptual), dentro de lo estipulado en la Ley 81 y las normas cubanas que aplican al proyecto y pronosticar en forma oportuna los posibles efectos del proyecto sobre el ambiente para contribuir con la calidad ambiental del desarrollo turístico sostenible en los cayos de la zona costera norte de Camagüey. Se realiza una evaluación de impactos ambientales para un mega proyecto de inversiones turísticas en un ecosistema frágil, lo cual le imprime novedad a los resultados obtenidos.
