Abstract

Las consideraciones que acerca de la salud se exponen en el presente artículo, pretenden llamar la atención hacia una mirada sociológica, en la que ella está mediada por la globalización en el campo científico-tecnológico. Este fenómeno ejerce un fuerte impacto en la calidad y los estilos de vida, lo que hace necesario comprender el proceso salud enfermedad como producto de la interacción de los hombres con la vida social y cultural, contextualizada en cada momento histórico concreto. Lo anterior significa que la salud es un problema social, contentivo de una dimensión cultural, por tanto, las acciones en torno a ella deben ser socio-culturales. Interpretarla en el ámbito sociocultural requiere de su análisis desde una perspectiva sociológica que nos aproxime a su comprensión como proceso particular que forma parte del proceso general de la socialización del individuo, originado en el entramado social.
