Abstract

El presente trabajo realiza un análisis sobre aspectos que definen la calidad y pertinencia de la educación superior en américa latina y retos a los que se debe enfrentar para cumplir con los objetivos y compromisos con la educación y el conocimiento en nuestras sociedades en desarrollo. Se hace referencia a importantes consideraciones de respetados académicos y algunos planteamientos de la conferencia mundial sobre educación superior desarrollada en parís en 1998 que a varios años de realizada son válidas de tener en cuenta y aspectos que definen el adecuado funcionamiento de las universidades como los procesos de gestión y administración, la necesidad de aprovechar las nuevas tecnologías de la información y la comunicación, la cooperación internacional y la responsabilidad social de las IES y sus vínculos con todos los sectores estatales y sociales.
