Abstract

O atual modelo de desenvolvimento tornou-se insustentável, pela crueldade com os mais pobres e pela voracidade com os recursos da natureza. Neste contexto, a C&T deve apresentar alternativas para um aproveitamento inteligente dos recursos naturais, com qualidade de vida para o homem e para o planeta. Surgem, então, a Amazônia brasileira, com as possibilidades econômicas que advêm de seu rico patrimônio natural, e o Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia - INPA com a missão de desempenhar um papel estratégico relacionado ao bem estar da sociedade e ao desenvolvimento dessa importante região. Sendo assim, é relevante refletir sobre a percepção dos pesquisadores do INPA sobre a importância da C&T para o desenvolvimento da Amazônia.
