Abstract

El conocimiento tradicional sobre los recursos naturales pertenece a un conjunto de saberes acumulables y compartidos en la vida cotidiana a través de mecanismos de socialización intergeneracional en el que participan varones y mujeres, como sociedad, en su constante interacción con su medio ambiente. En este escrito deseamos explorar el proceso histórico de la conformación de los conocimientos sobre el manejo de los recursos costeros a través de la investigación cualitativa. Analizamos el caso de tres poblaciones rurales ubicadas en una región costera del Caribe Mexicano, actualmente conocida como Costa Maya, las cuales comparten historias de vida, conocimientos, penurias y expectativas para el desarrollo local de la zona.
