Abstract

En el cuadro teórico, los conceptos de migración y retorno tienen variadas explicaciones. La más estudiada por los investigadores sociales tiene una perspectiva socioeconómica, apoyada en el modelo de atracción – repulsión (una vertiente más económica) y la cuestión de la racionalidad. Se tiene en cuenta que las desigualdades económicas y sociales a nivel espacial impulsan significativamente las poblaciones alrededor del mundo en busca de lugares con mayor desarrollo atrayendo a las personas por esas áreas más dinámicas; el caboverdiano es un ejemplo de lo apuntado. Cabo Verde durante toda su historia se configuró como espacio de pérdida de población con flujos poblacionales en dirección a Europa, principalmente. Según los datos del Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE – Censo 2010) y a pesar de no poder haber un dato exacto debido a la clandestinidad de la emigración, el número de caboverdianos que viven fuera del país es comparativo a los nacionales y sus motivaciones han diversificado. Este hecho de por sí se presenta como tema obligado para las ciencias sociales caboverdianas en general y para la sociología en particular.
