La cuentería popular santiaguera: su encuentro con la cultura africana

Abstract

Se realiza un análisis histórico- cultural de la cuentería popular santiaguera y su encuentro con la cultura africana, revelando el intríngulis de los tejidos orales construidos por los cuenteros, con los ingredientes agregados que le ha proporcionado el sabor negro y esclavo mostrados a través de algunos ejemplos. Se declara como a pesar de los horrores de la trata y de la travesía transatlántica, sus ritos, mitos y cuentos atravesaron el océano aferrados al alma de los cautivos, los que como saber social y cultural florecieron y se trasmitieron. Este hecho en Santiago de Cuba, influyó y distinguió de manera privilegiada a la cuentería popular. La cultura africana nos legó el amor por la palabra y las formas subliminales de realizarla, lo que mucho tiene que ver con la prolijidad cuentera que caracteriza a los santiagueros de hoy, que al narrar pintan de colores los vitrales de la imaginación.
