Influencia de un programa educativo de salud bucal en niños con retraso mental leve

Abstract

Los niños con retraso mental leve poseen necesidades educativas especiales con limitaciones en su desarrollo intelectual y social que propician la aparición de hábitos incorrectos de higiene bucal y afecciones odontológicas que limitan su actividad. Es por ello que necesitan de una adecuada atención médica, psicológica, pedagógica, social y participativa. En las últimas cuatro décadas, se ha dedicado poca atención a resolver los problemas relacionados con el estado de salud de estos niños y no se han desarrollado las suficientes técnicas y procedimientos para potenciar el trabajo educativo en estomatología con estos escolares. Es por ello que se realiza esta investigación con el objetivo de elevar el nivel de conocimientos de salud bucal en niños con retraso mental leve a través de técnicas afectivas participativas como parte de un programa educativo.
