Evolución demográfica de Jiguaní entre 1700 – 1868

Abstract

El siguiente trabajo sobre la base de los estudios históricos realizados sobre el tema, el poyo en un importante sustento bibliográfico y de fuentes originales de archivo, entre ellos los censos y padrones coloniales, nos permitió realizar la construcción histórica de la evolución poblacional de Jiguaní desde su fundación hasta el inicio de la Guerra de los Diez Años, teniendo en cuenta tres hitos en su evolución: pueblo de indios, jurisdicción y sociedad auto identificada. El apoyo en la estadística matemática permitió un mejor análisis de las características más notables de la evolución demográfica de esta comunidad, así como la caracterización de sus principales patrones demográficos. Evidencia la estrecha relación de la evolución de Jiguaní con los cambios que experimentó el Oriente cubano en igual período de tiempo.
