Caracterización de los convenios porcinos de ceba en el municipio Baraguá

Abstract

La investigación se desarrolló con el objetivo de caracterizar la producción porcina por convenios de ceba en el sector no especializado del municipio Baraguá. Se evaluaron un total de 13 productores de ceba con 54 convenios a partir de pre-ceba y 18 convenios a partir de destetes, durante el periodo 2005 – 2011, con una masa total entregada a los productores de 6745 precebas y 1615 destetes provenientes de las unidades de cría de la Empresa Porcina de Ciego de Ávila. Para el análisis estadístico se utilizó el paquete SPSS, versión 15.0 para Windows. Los productores tienen un elevado nivel cultural y experiencia en la producción porcina. De acuerdo al manejo del rebaño se obtuvo que la mayoría de los productores emplean genotipos mejorados, ofrecen los alimentos a los cerdos tres veces al día, empleando pienso de convenio y otras fuentes alternativas. Los alimentos más utilizados por los productores son el maíz (92,3%), la soya (84,6%), miel (76,9%), pescado y plátano (61,5%) y la yuca (53,8%). La variante del convenio de ceba a partir de destetes es más viable para la Empresa Porcina, la que se ahorra los costos fijos de producción.
