Hershey: historia e identidad a través de la fotografía

Abstract

La fotografía de Hershey constituye un documento de innegable valor para el estudio de determinados aspectos socioculturales que identifican a esta comunidad. Una mirada hacia las imágenes de Hershey permite advertir todo el proceso de formación, construcción y desarrollo del poblado. La siguiente investigación hace un análisis del fondo fotográfico de Hershey correspondiente al período 1916-1926 con el objetivo de develar los diferentes elementos identitarios de la comunidad que se ilustran a través del documento fotográfico. La investigación comienza con un breve recorrido por la historia de Hershey. Se analizan las imágenes, poniendo al descubierto los principales elementos identitarios que aparecen representados en ellas. Para este trabajo se tuvieron en cuenta métodos tanto del nivel teórico como del empírico que permitieron orientar la investigación. El estudio del ámbito comunitario a través del documento fotográfico constituye un acercamiento a los elementos que lo identifican: su cultura, su historia, sus costumbres, tradiciones, personas, modos de vida, de ahí la relevancia de este tema.
