Mitos y leyendas cubanas en la décima escrita

Abstract

Los mitos y las leyendas son modalidades del saber oral del pueblo, forman la tradición y condicionan el modo de pensar y actuar de las personas; su estudio requiere un trabajo vinculado con los campesinos porque es en los medios rurales donde esta parte del folclor se encuentra más pura, variada y fortalecida. Son elementos indispensables en toda la cultura y se regeneran constantemente; alegorías que surgen como consecuencia de la fe viviente necesitada de milagros y generadoras de leyendas cuya esencia no encontramos en la mera lectura de un texto, sino en el estudio combinado de la narración y el ambiente social y cultural en que ocurren. Tomando como base la clasificación que hizo Samuel Feijoo en su libro Mitología cubana, podemos agrupar –a partir de los elementos que la conforman– a los cultivadores decimistas en correspondencia con el tratamiento que a ella dan.
