Panorama General De Victoria De Las Tunas En La Primera Década Del Siglo Xx

Abstract

Al iniciar el siglo XX, Victoria de las Tunas es un poblado prácticamente destruido. En esta década, una vez más la ciudad comienza a poblarse de forma lenta, por tanto se genera una incipiente actividad comercial, a cargo de algunos tuneros e inmigrantes, esencialmente españoles. El objetivo de este trabajo es ilustrar el panorama general de Victoria de las Tunas en la primera década del siglo XX, haciendo énfasis en las actividades económicas, el ambiente social y cultural. En lo relativo a lo cultural se abordan las creencias religiosas, opciones culturales y recreativas y la aparición de El Eco de Tunas como periódico defensor de los derechos de los tuneros. Por último, se hace referencia a la recuperación del Ayuntamiento de Victoria de las Tunas en 1910 como hecho que inaugura una nueva etapa para la localidad.
