Desarrollo económico local y empresas en la región Valles de Jalisco (México), 1999-2014

Abstract

El desarrollo económico local, es un proceso de crecimiento y cambio estructural de la economía de un territorio, incluyendo una localidad, ciudad o región. Cada territorio cuenta con un conjunto de recursos económicos, humanos, institucionales y culturales que constituyen su potencial de desarrollo; que pueden utilizarse para crear un entorno favorable a la actividad productiva local e incrementar el bienestar de la población. Este trabajo analiza la relación entre el desarrollo económico local y las empresas que se suscita en la región Valles de Jalisco (México), y cómo ésta configura su progreso. La región está integrada por doce municipios: Ahualulco de Mercado, Amatitán, Ameca, El Arenal, Etzatlán, Hostotipaquillo, Magdalena, San Juanito de Escobedo, San Marcos, Tala, Teuchitlán, y Tequila. Cuenta con recursos naturales diversos, tiene una vocación agrícola, principalmente el cultivo de la caña de azúcar, maíz y agave, y una importante producción de tequila y azúcar de caña. A partir de la revisión y análisis de información documental, y estadísticas oficiales de INEGI, CONAPO, SAGARPA, se identifican elementos que ayudan en la explicación del proceso de crecimiento económico de la región Valles, durante el periodo 1999-2014.
