Funciones E Importancia Económica Del Recurso Chapulixtle (Dodonaea Viscosa) En Un Ejido Del Subtrópico Mexicano

Abstract

El chapulixtle (Dodonaea viscosa) es una planta cosmopolita. Para demostrar la importancia económica de esta planta, se realizó una investigación de campo en un Ejido del Subtrópico Mexicano, durante el período 2010 - 2012. Fue explorado el hábitat de la planta y su utilización por parte de las familias campesinas. La investigación se sustentó en la Geografía Ambiental (Bocco, 2007) y la Ecología Cultural (Steward, 1955), complementándose con la aplicación de un cuestionario al 100% de las familias campesinas, observación directa, observación participante, estadística descriptiva y uso del equipo DGPS. Los resultados demuestran que el uso del chapulixtle en el Ejido se relaciona con las condiciones socioculturales y económicas de los habitantes y por las diferentes estrategias utilizadas para su manejo. Los usos principales son: ecológico, ambiental, agrícola, pecuario, artesanal, medicinal, para combustible, ornamental, construcción de viviendas, agroforestal y recarga de acuíferos. En las zonas rurales, esta planta ha contribuido significativamente en la economía de las familias campesinas, además, las condiciones socioculturales de las familias campesinas del Subtrópico Mexicano han influido en la diversidad de usos. En el Ejido se encontraron 22 usos diferentes, y lo más probable es que en otras comunidades del territorio mexicano existan otros más.
