2019: nuevo emperador y nueva era para Japón

Abstract

El 1ro mayo de 2019, el actual Emperador de Japón Akihito abdicará, y su hijo, el Príncipe Naruhito, reinará como el nuevo monarca. Lo significativo de esta transición imperial no es su rareza, sino el contexto en que se realiza: el marco de otra transición más general y profunda iniciada a partir de 2012 por el gobierno del Primer Ministro Shinzo Abe. La estrategia de seguridad nacional de la actual administración ha buscado aumentar las capacidades militares de la nación asiática, a la vez que ha realizado cambios trascendentales en la sociedad japonesa. El Emperador, y sus poderes, también han sido objeto de análisis para posibles modificaciones. Este proceso podría conllevar a la restauración parcial o total de ideologías de preguerra, como el Kokutai.
